Tidewater Rod Co, LLC is owned and operated by Moonshine Rod Co. Founder, Jon Lavezzo.  After Jon sold Moonshine Rod Company in 2021, he has been actively developing the Tidewater brand, but has only recently been able to release his rods due to a non-compete.  That said, Tidewater Rod Co, LLC has NO AFFILIATION with Moonshine Rod Co.

Jon Lavezzo makes every rod by hand, including the wrapping and finishing everything in his rod shop along the banks of the Chesapeake Bay in Coastal Virginia.  He spends his free time with his growing family and of course fly fishing the local marshes and areas in and around the lower Chesapeake Bay.  Tidewater Rod Company may be a new brand on paper, but rest assured that the owner has certainly paid his dues in the industry over the last decade.  Having hand built over 3600 fly rods and designing countless other models for his previous company, there are tens of thousands of fly rods all over the world currently with Jon Lavezzo's signature design/build. 

What started out as a side project, soon became an obsession. Over 3 years of perfecting the Tidewater Virtue blank with the help of the top graphite and carbon fiber experts in the world, we believe we have the competition beat on value and price. Freshwater or Salt, we have constructed each rod to withstand the harshest elements you can throw at it. Each rod is proudly constructed, wrapped, and finished by the owner himself. With a LIFETIME WARRANTY, 40 Ton Graphite, and one of the smoothest casting rods we've ever put our hands on, we now present to you, Tidewater Rods, Individually crafted to inspire the soul.
